200th Anniversary Commemorative History Book
The Galveston Wharves is also publishing a 140-page hardcover book in collaboration with Galveston Historical Foundation. Filled with rare historical images, the commemorative, limited-edition book recounts the Port of Galveston’s fascinating history of pirates, naval battles, riches, and resilience. The book will be released in October.

Friday, Oct. 17 – Port of Galveston Party on the Pier, a free public event presented by Royal Caribbean, to celebrate the port’s 200th anniversary. Dance bands, a drone show over Galveston Harbor, and family activities. 5:30-10:30 p.m. at Pier 21, 2100 Harborside Dr.
200th Anniversary Gala Presented by Carnival Cruise Line
Saturday, Oct. 18 – Carnival Cruise Line is presenting the 200th Anniversary Gala, hosted by the Port of Galveston beginning at 6 p.m. at the Galveston Island Convention Center, 5600 Seawall Blvd., with a 10-piece dance band presented by Callan Marine. Tables and seats are on sale now.
Galveston Naval Museum Display at Rosenberg Library

Join us at the Rosenberg Library to celebrate the Navy’s 250th Anniversary! Come see a small slice of naval history and how the Navy has impacted Galveston. Display is located on the 2nd floor Grand Hallway area of the library in the “Treasure of the Month” display case.

The Port of Galveston will kick off its 200th anniversary year of celebrations with a big National Maritime Day event presented by Wallenius Wilhelmsen 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, May 22, at Pier 21. The free event will feature vessel tours, including a U.S. Coast Guard cutter, a commemorative ceremony at 10 a.m. and maritime information booths.
