Saturday, October 18, 6-10 PM
Seats and tables are now available for the Port of Galveston’s 200th Anniversary Gala presented by Carnival Cruise Line the evening of Saturday, Oct. 18. Net proceeds will fund maritime scholarships at Texas A&M University at Galveston.
Hosted by the Galveston Wharves, the elegant evening of dinner and dancing will be at the Galveston Island Convention Center, 5600 Seawall Blvd. Entertainment presenting sponsor is Callan Marine. Dinner will be catered by the San Luis Hotel. Attire is formal, black tie optional.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception with hosted bar before guests enter a deep-sea blue, nautical-themed ballroom. Cadets in the Hearn Honor Guard from Texas A&M University at Galveston will perform the Saber Arch as honorees are announced.
The program will include the debut of a port history video and a scholarship check presentation. The gala will also celebrate Carnival’s 25th anniversary as the first cruise line to homeport in Galveston.
After dinner, the 10-member party band Manhattan, presented by Callan Marine, will get everyone dancing. To cap off the evening, each guest will receive a gift copy of the port’s limited-edition, commemorative history book.
Port Director Rodger Rees said, “Thanks to the generous support of our bicentennial sponsors, we’re able to host these bicentennial celebrations with net proceeds funding maritime scholarships at Texas A&M at Galveston.”
